A Calm, Thoughtful Beginning
Trying acupuncture for the first time can bring questions. Our goal is to make the experience comfortable, understandable, and centered around you.
You will never be expected to arrive with the “right” words or a perfectly defined goal. We begin with what you are noticing and what feels most important now.
Before Your Appointment
For a more comfortable experience:
-
Complete your new-client forms before arriving, when possible.
-
Eat a light meal or snack within a few hours of your appointment.
-
Drink water and arrive reasonably hydrated.
-
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
-
Bring a list of medications or relevant health information.
-
Let Suzanne know if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, take blood-thinning medication, have a bleeding disorder, or have any medical concerns that may affect treatment.

During Your First Visit
Your initial appointment begins with a conversation about your health history, current concerns, daily patterns, and goals.
Suzanne will explain the treatment process and give you an opportunity to ask questions. If acupuncture is appropriate for you, very fine, sterile, single-use needles will be gently placed at selected points on the body.
You remain in control throughout the appointment. Please speak up if you feel uncomfortable or would like anything adjusted.
What Does Acupuncture Feel Like?
Needle placement is often barely noticeable. You may experience a mild sensation such as heaviness, warmth, tingling, or a gentle ache near an acupuncture point. Many people find the resting portion of treatment deeply relaxing.
Your comfort matters. Acupuncture should not feel overwhelming, and the treatment can be adjusted at any time.
After Your Treatment
Responses to acupuncture vary. You may feel relaxed, refreshed, tired, or notice gradual changes over the following hours or days.
After your appointment:
-
Drink water.
-
Give yourself time to notice how you feel.
-
Avoid unusually strenuous activity if your body is asking for rest.
-
Follow any personalized guidance Suzanne provides.
-
Contact us if you have questions or experience an unexpected response.

How Many Appointments Will I Need?
There is no universal treatment schedule. Recommendations depend on your concern, how long it has been present, your overall health, and how your body responds.
Suzanne will discuss the suggested frequency of care with you. You can then decide what feels realistic and appropriate.
