Meet Heidi Overman
Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Integrative Health and Wellness Coach, Wellness Strategist, educator, and founder of Empty Cup Wellness.
Heidi created Empty Cup Wellness to offer something she believes is often missing from wellness care: time to listen, space to understand the whole person, and support choosing realistic next steps.

A Little About Heidi
Heidi Overman is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Integrative Health and Wellness Coach, Wellness Strategist, educator, writer, and the founder of Empty Cup Wellness.
Her interest in the body and movement began long before her professional wellness career. Heidi danced for 16 years, with a primary focus on ballet. The discipline, precision, balance, strength, and body awareness required in ballet gave her an early appreciation for how small changes in alignment and movement can affect the entire body.
She was also a multi-sport athlete who participated in volleyball, basketball, swimming and track and field. In track, she competed across eight events: the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 400-meter races; the 4 × 100-meter, 4 × 200-meter, and 4 × 400-meter relays; the high jump; and the triple jump.
Interestingly, Heidi often found herself in the athletic trainer’s room, not because she was injured, but because she was curious. She wanted to understand what the trainers were doing, why certain injuries occurred, how the body recovered, and how movement could be supported more effectively. She asked questions, watched, and learned. Those early experiences sparked a lasting interest in anatomy, movement, injury, and the relationship between how the body is used and how it feels.
Heidi later became deeply involved in weight training and frequently held lifting records at her gym. Together, dance, athletics, and strength training gave her personal experience with very different forms of movement: from control, flexibility, and precision to speed, power, coordination, and endurance.

Throughout her professional career, Heidi has worked closely with people navigating pain, injury recovery, changing mobility, stress, chronic health concerns, and the physical realities of getting older. Her own athletic background helps her appreciate that movement is not one-size-fits-all. The way a person moves and what that person wants to be able to do can change across different seasons of life.
Her approach is also deeply personal. Heidi has experienced serious health challenges, unexpected diagnoses, and times when her concerns were dismissed or attributed to something other than what was actually happening. Those experiences taught her the importance of listening to the body, asking better questions, advocating for appropriate care, and continuing to search for answers when something does not feel right.
They also shaped her belief that wellness should not be about fear, perfection, performance, or following an endless list of rules. It should help people understand themselves more clearly, make informed choices, and identify realistic support for the life they want to live.
Today, Heidi brings together her lived experience with dance, athletics, strength training, massage therapy, mobility support, health coaching, education, and business leadership. She continues to be guided by the same curiosity that once brought her into the athletic trainer’s room: a desire to understand how the body works, what it is communicating, and how thoughtful support can help someone move forward.
These experiences became part of the foundation for Empty Cup Wellness and its central invitation:
Empty what no longer serves. Choose what comes next.
A Personal Approach to Wellness
Heidi understands how frustrating it can be to know that something does not feel right and still struggle to find clear answers, appropriate support, or a provider who truly listens.
Her personal experiences navigating complex health concerns strengthened her belief that people deserve to be heard, informed, and included in decisions about their bodies and well-being.
Those experiences also shaped a central principle of her work:
Pay attention to your body and what it is telling you.
Heidi does not believe clients need someone to take over their wellness. She believes they need knowledgeable professionals who listen carefully, communicate honestly, respect professional boundaries, and help them understand their options.

Why Heidi Created
Empty Cup Wellness
Empty Cup Wellness grew from Heidi’s desire to create a center where services are not isolated from the person receiving them.
A client may initially come in for massage but also be navigating changes in movement, energy, stress, skin, health habits, or confidence. That does not mean the client needs every service. It means someone should be willing to listen to the complete picture and help the client determine what may be useful.
Heidi built Empty Cup Wellness around collaboration, clear professional roles, and thoughtful choice. The center brings together massage, acupuncture, clinical esthetics, mobility and movement support, education, and wellness planning while respecting when medical or specialty care is needed elsewhere.
She also created The Empty Cup Functional Movement Pathway™ to give clients a more supportive alternative to the traditional idea of personal training. Rather than beginning with pressure, performance, or a predetermined workout plan, the pathway begins by understanding how the client moves now, what daily activities matter, and what kind of support is appropriate.
The pathway can connect the distinct work of a Functional Movement Coach with Heidi’s manual assisted-stretch services. Each professional remains within their own training and scope.

The Empty Cup Method™

Heidi developed the Empty Cup Method™ around four stages:
Question, Examine, Choose, and Practice.
The method reflects her belief that lasting change is less likely to come from adding more pressure and more likely to begin with clarity.
Before asking, “What else should I do?” Heidi encourages clients to ask:
-
What is already filling my life?
-
What is my body telling me?
-
What is helping?
-
What no longer serves?
-
What belongs next?

A Note From Heidi
I created Empty Cup Wellness because I believe people deserve a place where they can be heard before they are told what to do. Wellness should not feel like a punishment, a performance, or another impossible standard. My goal is to help you understand what is asking for your attention, consider your options, and choose a next step that respects your body, your priorities, and your real life.
