Your Move

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be fit or flexible to begin?

No. Your Move is specifically designed to begin with your current ability. You do not have to prepare for your first conversation or prove that you are ready.

What is the first step?

First-time clients begin with a complimentary 30-minute Your Move Conversation with Heidi. You will discuss your goals, concerns, and which service may be the most appropriate starting point.

Is the complimentary conversation an assessment?

No. It is a discovery conversation with Heidi and does not include movement testing, exercise instruction, or treatment.

Is the $75 Movement Assessment required?

Yes. The Movement Assessment with the Functional Movement Specialist is required before enrolling in the six-week Your Move program. It is a separate service and is not credited toward the $699 program price.

What is included in the $699 six-week program?

The program includes:

  • One 45-minute Start-Up Movement Session

  • Six private 30-minute movement sessions

  • One Personalized At-Home Movement Menu

  • One 30-minute concluding review

The required $75 Movement Assessment is completed and paid for separately before enrollment.

Will the sessions focus on balance?

They can. Balance is an important part of Your Move and may be addressed alongside strength, mobility, coordination, turning, reaching, chair movement, and confidence with everyday activities. Your sessions will reflect your assessment and goals.

Is this a group exercise class?

No. The six-week Your Move program is individually guided. Empty Cup Wellness may offer separate movement or balance classes, but those are not the same as the private program.

Is Your Move personal training?

Your Move includes individualized fitness and exercise guidance provided by a qualified Functional Movement Specialist. We use language that reflects the broader goal: helping you move with greater strength, balance, mobility, and confidence in everyday life.

Is this physical therapy or medical rehabilitation?

No. Your Move is a general wellness and fitness program. It does not diagnose or treat a medical condition and does not replace physical therapy, occupational therapy, or medical rehabilitation.

If you have new symptoms, a recent injury or surgery, unexplained falls, significant dizziness, activity restrictions, or an unstable medical condition, we may request medical evaluation or clearance before participation.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move. Supportive shoes may be recommended for active movement sessions. Assisted stretching with Heidi is also fully clothed.

What if I cannot get onto the floor?

Tell us during your conversation and assessment. Your Move is not dependent on floor exercises. Movements can often be performed standing, seated, or with appropriate support based on your needs and the specialist’s assessment.

What if my energy or ability changes from day to day?

That is useful information, not a failure. Sessions and your at-home menu can include appropriate modifications so that movement is not limited to your very best days.

Will I receive exercises to do at home?

Yes. The six-week program includes a Personalized At-Home Movement Menu. It is designed to be manageable and relevant to your goals rather than long or overwhelming.

Can I purchase the At-Home Movement Menu separately?

It may be available for $75 following an assessment or current work with the Functional Movement Specialist. The specialist must have enough information to create an appropriate individualized plan.

What is the difference between movement sessions and assisted stretching?

Movement sessions are active and led by the Functional Movement Specialist. They may include exercise instruction, strength, balance, mobility, coordination, and technique.

Assisted stretching with Heidi is a hands-on, fully clothed service offered within her massage therapy role. It does not include personal exercise prescription.

What happens after the six weeks?

Your concluding review helps you decide what comes next. You may continue independently, schedule occasional progress sessions, continue individual support, update your Movement Menu, add assisted stretching, or seek a referral when appropriate.

What if I am still unsure whether this is right for me?

That is exactly what the complimentary conversation is for. Tell Heidi what you want to do more comfortably or confidently, and she will help you identify the most appropriate next step.
